The 34 best restaurants to try in Healdsburg (2024)

SingleThread Farm is a Californian-Japanese combination restaurant and luxury inn. The Inn has a rooftop garden with artisanal ingredients grown on the Inn's own farm outside of town. The food is kaiseki - an elaborate multicourse meal crafted as art, and donabe - rustic clay pot cooking. The Restaurant has received 3 Michelin stars.

The best dining experience we ever had! I love floral designs so I appreciate their artistic way of presenting every dish. We already have a gift card and are ready to use it as long as they get an opening

Above and beyond our expectations. Dishes here have deep, deep Japanese influence. Every course has great presentation and the flavor is top notch. Wine pairing is also spot on and pairs very well with dishes. The service can't be better and people are super friendly. This place is definitely worth a visit!

For all of the three star restaurants I've eaten at, this one has the best plate presentations. The on-site floral team is working overtime, for sure. And that's not to take anything away from the chefs. The food was amazing! Lots of really good fish and VERY seasonal veg.We did the premium wine pairing. Not sure it's worth the extra money. I think we would've been just as happy with the nightly pairing. And there's a pretty big difference in price, so if you go, keep the nightly pairing in mind. The Inn is legit amazing. Everything was perfect. The breakfast in the morning was every bit as good as you'd think and expect.

This restaurant has always felt out of reach for me, as every time in the past that I anticipated being close enough to visit, I was never able to secure a reservation. However my luck changed when I was recently in the area and a table became available. This was absolutely at the top of my experiences at any restaurant I’ve ever been to. Absolute perfection, from the atmosphere, to the service, and the top level food. The most memorable bite for me was the tempura squash blossom that seemed to have been fried in an oil infused with alliums. I can still taste it!I pray that I will be able to return, and if luck has it, meet the chef/owner. After seeing what this man is doing at Single Thread, I thought to myself, I’d really like to party with him!So impressed!!!

This is another amazing 3- Michelin-star experience in the Bay Area. It is quite impressive that a lot of the ingredients are seasonal and from their farm. The menu is heavily influenced by Japanese cuisines, so there are a lot of high quality fresh fish and vegetables. Their "first course" was the best for me. It consisted of 12 mini appetizers that were insanely delicious. The mushroom rice before desserts was another highlight as well. Service and ambiance are top-notch. Single Thread is well worth a trip to Healdsburg.

Words cannot adequately describe our experience here. Dined her for my birthday and the entire evening did not disappoint. The service, atmosphere and presentation went beyond our expectations. The food was delicious for the most part. Experimental at times but fun nonethless. If I could pick an area to improve on it would be the desserts. They were okay. We were pretty full by then so it could have had an impact. It was a very fun experience.

It's the best restaurant in the world! First of all, the first dish is art. It was too beautiful to eat. All the food was delicious, the service was attentive and we had a wonderful time.We were not able to reserve a room at the inn this time because it was full, but would love to stay here next time.Thank you for a wonderful experience. We hope to come back again.

The entire dining experience was absolutely breathtaking. The plating was gorgeous and even the accompanying smells really added to the taste of the very thoughtful 11 courses. I loved the fresh ingredients and the very flavorful sauces. I can't begin to describe each one, but if you're considering coming here you should go! We had the wine pairing and each choice really did enhance the taste of each course. Every bite was savored and every minute was delightful.

The 3-star Michelin rated Single Thread restaurant the most expensive dinner of a lifetime! It was a symphonic opera of visual presentation and unique foods. The food was marvelously delicious. 10 courses with combinations of flavors, temperatures and textures and color; and they have an entire floral team for presentation. Some of the tableside preparation was unique and special in its own right. The staff has an incredible gift of hospitality making us feel both welcome and comfortable with the course pacing being just perfect! Truly worthy of every accolade!!

Food: 3.5/5Service: 5/5Ambiance: 5/5Overall: A good taste of fine dining to try out.Would I come back: Since I’m not really a fancy fine dining kind of person likely not. But it was good to try once. The extended review…Food: 3.5/5 - Definitely fresh and immaculate in presentation. For myself, I tend to look for different and unconventional flavors when doing fine dining so it’s hard to say that anything was really out of the ordinary.Service: 5/5 - Amazing attentive service. Definitely what I expect from a place with this stature. The servers were very patient and collected.Ambiance: 5/5 - Beautifully decorated interior and very well suited for fine dining.

Wonderful setting, food and service. If anything can justify Michelin prices (nothing can, really), then this is it. Even better than French Laundry. So many vegetables and flowers. Incredible presentation. Enjoyed the roof and kitchen stops. Leisurely meal over 3.5 hrs. A bit too much food in the end, though portions were small enough and thankfully, not many carbs.

Good service but odd description of the food, as Ingredients were listed in painful detail, but too fast and too quietly to really understand. Maybe I should have requested the server to be louder and slower. Food was superb. Service was very attentive. Music was too loud, registering about 72-74 decibels. When the music was briefly paused, the reading went down to 62-64. A major difference and much more pleasant. The desserts were sweetened to Japanese taste, although I prefer sweeter standards.

The experience is better for photos than eating. Food is overall uninteresting and sometimes oversalted with a nice presentation. Good if you just want to show off, bad if you enjoy food. No idea why this got 3 stars

This is an amazing experience. Incredible service and food. The menu was put together in a very thoughtful manner, the presentation, and information with each course made for a memorable experience. It's difficult to get reservations, you need to do so far in advance and compete with a website clicking war. I would suggest staying at the inn for an even better experience and a better shot at securing a table as a dinner reservation comes with your room. Then, you can also benefit from their in room breakfast if you've saved enough room. The breakfast is also terrific and thoughtfully put together.Be sure to add this one to your bucket list!

Disclaimer, this review is for the restaurant only. Beautiful restaurant with a thoughtful aesthetic. The Japanese-influenced seafood-forward food with French technique was delicious and presented artfully, of course punctuated by the initial tableau worthy of all the accolades it receives. Sweet bites, often a letdown in these tasting menus, were very good, and one could sense, more than just thrown in as an afterthought. Service was attentive and efficient, if not at times feeling a little too rehearsed for my taste. Healdsburg itself is charming and definitely worth the detour. Highly recommended for a splurge.

An incredible dining experience! The 3-star Michelin rating could not be more deserved with unbelievable food presentation, impeccable attention to every detail, and an extremely knowledgeable welcoming and friendly staff. The floral and culinary teams are unsurpassed in artful Japanese inspired design for each of the 10 courses. An amazing experience of texture, color and flavor, and one of the most memorable meals of my life. Bravo Single Thread!

We have been to many Michelin restaurants all over the world, including 3 star establishments such as neighboring French Laundry and Alinea in Chicago. SingleThread was, without question, the best dining experience of our lives so far. Our 10 course meal featured a fusion of summer and fall ingredients, which honored the seasons uniquely and impeccably. I didn’t know produce could taste as good as what was presented in each course! The wagyu and fish were cooked flawlessly and prepared superlatively. And if there was any doubt that this was the best meal of our lives, the dessert that followed quickly put those doubts to rest. Combining both French and Japanese traditions, dessert was innovative, surprising, and delicious. The non-alcoholic drink pairing simply put the whole experience over the edge. It was great talking with our server Garrett throughout the meal. The service overall was some of the very best we’ve experienced as of yet. On your next trip to Northern California’s wine country, skip the tired and commercialized experience of the French Laundry and opt for the cozy, adventurous, and inspired SingleThread. It was a Halloween night we will never forget!

Probably the best dining experience in the US. 3 Michelin stars, Worlds 50 Best list, all well deserved. The tasting menu takes you through a journey that captured the diverse California produce which is fresh from the restaurants farm while adding a Japanese influence to the dishes making it exquisite and unique. The staff were unbelievable. All having deep detailed knowledge in each dish and drink but more importantly welcoming and accommodating to all sorts of dietary restrictions. They went above and beyond in the smallest and biggest of ways.Having tried dining experiences in Japan Singapore, Peru, Portugal and many other countries, this ranks as one of the very best I’ve ever had. If there is one dining experience I would have on my bucket list in the US, this would be it.

Outstanding dining experience. Amazing food and service. All the things you would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. When our server sat us and asked our preference of water , he discretely signaled a colleague and our glasses were instantly filled. In another example, he picked up an empty glass , discretely put it behind his back while he spoke to us and another server wisked it away almost unnoticed. It's the details that matter.

The meal was perfection, we did the wine pairing as well.. from start to finish everything was divine. The service, ambiance, experience, food, everything! I have celiacs and they made sure to make everything gluten free and cooked safely for me. AMAZING! Best meal/experience of our lives!!

What an experience. The space was great. Gotta check out the bathrooms. Service was impeccable. The staff was attentive without being over bearing. Shout out to Jackson the sommelier for being knowledgeable and funny. Food was excellent and precise. Great presentation, delicious flavors and paired well with the wines. The price was steep but ultimately worth it.

The dinner was nice but I want to touch upon how disrespectful the hotel staff and front desk is by sharing my experience. The check-out was at 11.00am and I requested to use their study room for my Zoom meetings. After an hour, they blasted the music to intentionally kick me out even though they initially said it was okay. When I was going to the front desk to tell them about this, I heard them gossiping and making fun about my age and nationality. This experience was my birthday present and I was super upset and did not know what to do after hearing their conversation, so I got out of the hotel as soon as possible. I believe this is an unacceptable and utterly rude behavior from a Relais-Chateux line hotel. I hope this message gets to the right person and the issue does not persist to young international individuals like myself.

If I were judging SingleThread solely by the flavor of the food, it would be a 3.5 or 4. The dishes clearly had thought put into its presentation and in its constituent elements, although more often than not was just overly fussy. The most disappointing dish, the "Wagyu" whose name is an insult to actual Wagyu, lacked any of the juiciness found in the real deal, and was instead incredibly tough and had to be sawed at with a knife. The small sliver of beef was surrounded by distracting small side dishes, culminating in a panoply of ephemera whose minuteness loses any ability to savor or appreciate the flavors of the meat, the presumed center of the dish (spoiler: it was bland and TOUGH). This dish exemplified my main issue with the menu, that most of the dishes felt like a proof of concept, rather than a part of a meal. A flourish that wanted to be loved for its alleged technical expertise, but nothing that would sit on the palate of memory. Status, rather than substance. But perhaps wanting more of the food isn't really an insult. After all, most of the dishes were quite good and quite well done, and the initial "Summer in Sonoma" course was certainly dazzling in presentation. Unfortunately, a "dining experience" must be defined by more than the food, and here I found two main failings.First, the menu wasn't provided and the litany of ingredients in each dish required a sense of mental acuity far more than what I was capable of. Having the menu at the outset would have allowed me to understand and appreciate the flavors, rather than being distracted by the task of identification, like trying to figure out who an actor is in a movie rather than paying attention to the movie.Second, the price. Simply put, it's not worth the $600+/head (with tax and tip). For that price, I could have had ~10-15 meals at other restaurants that are no less thoughtful and perhaps with a bit less of an ego towards itself. At least one of those restaurants probably knows how to cook a steak, too! If this were half the cost, I'd maybe look back and say it was a fun experience, but as its price, I just have major buyer's remorse.

For a three Michelin star restaurant, Single Thread restaurant is quite disappointing, highly over-rated and over priced. Among all the three Michelin star restaurants we’ve been, this one comes out on the bottom in terms of food and on the top in terms of price. On the positive side, the restaurant dining room is well designed and appointed. The servers are attentive and knowledgeable, and each course of food was complicated and beautiful presented. However, for all the effort the food tasted quite bland. There’s not a single course that was particularly memorable of the whole meal. As a matter of fact, there are multiple dishes that I can name another restaurant that had tasted better. Of course I probably missed the highlight of the entire meal - the last dessert course. As there’re so much food, we were visibly full towards the end. Before introducing the last course, the server kindly suggested packing our last desert course for us to take home, except he totally forgot about it as we were leaving. Even upon my reminder, he seemed confused and only gave us the petit fours as a take home token.Lastly, the drink pairing was a hit and miss. In summary, we’ve had dinner the same week at one Michelin restaurant close by in Geyserville that’s of higher quality.
