Methodology

We rated the largest internet providers in the U.S. for 2024. Each provider was rated on a scale of 1 to 5 based on over a dozen factors, including speed, cost, availability, fees, customer satisfaction, connection type and more. We also used data from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to compare the average speed offered by internet companies in the U.S. to set a baseline for what is considered a good internet speed. Additionally, we analyzed data from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) to understand how each internet service provider (ISP) fares in customer service and perceived value.

We rated Quantum Fiber 4.25 out of 5 on our internet provider rating scale. Factors contributing to its high score include its fiber connection and few fees. However, Quantum Fiber is not widely available but provides solid and sensible internet plans in its service areas.

How we reviewed Quantum Fiber

Quantum Fiber reviews ranked high based on connection type, pricing and additional charges but faced limitations in availability due to its limited coverage range. While Quantum Fiber technology reaches 940 Mbps, its speed options are minor compared to other best internet providers that offer plans above 1 GB.

Quantum Fiber internet plans explained

Quantum Fiber offers two fiber plans with 500 Mbps or 940 Mbps speeds. Read on for more Quantum Fiber reviews on each plan to determine which is the best fit for your internet needs.

Quantum Fiber 500 Mbps – Cheapest plan

Quantum Fiber’s cheapest plan is $50/mo. for unlimited data. This high-speed plan is great for virtually any household with light to medium-high internet use. Gaming, streaming or regularly using up to 20 devices should work well on this plan.

While the advertised speed is 500 Mbps, the typical download speed is actually slightly higher, at 527 Mbps. There are no additional charges for equipment or for 360 WiFi coverage for the initial period; however, the length of the “initial period” is not specified.

Quantum Fiber 940 Mbps – Fastest speed

For homes that need a faster speed, Quantum Fiber 940 Mbps is available. This plan is the best choice if you connect over 20 devices simultaneously or simply prefer a higher bandwidth. The typical speed with this plan is 944 Mbps, and it has a lower latency than the 500 Mbps plan, at 2 milliseconds faster on average. While this ping rate is not a major difference, it could be a factor for competitive gamers. Regardless, this $75/mo. deal is affordable and even cheaper than other major internet providers for a 1 GB plan.

Bundle Quantum Fiber internet with TV

Quantum Fiber partners with DIRECTV for TV and internet deals, although your TV service will still be billed separately. Streaming plans with DIRECTV do not require a satellite dish. Early termination fees, a receiver service fee and a Regional Sports Fee may apply to DIRECTV service. Streaming plans include:

  • ENTERTAINMENT: $69.99/mo.; 90+ channels
  • CHOICETM: $84.99/mo.; 125+ channels
  • ULTIMATE: $114.99/mo.; 160+ channels

Quantum Fiber vs. other ISPs

Internet providers you will find in the same regions as Quantum Fiber include Spectrum, T-Mobile and Xfinity. Overall, Quantum Fiber is the better deal because of its long-term price guarantee and fast fiber-optic connection.

ProviderStarting price range*Speed rangeConnection type
Quantum Fiber$50–$75/mo.500–940 MbpsFiber
Spectrum$49.99–$79.99/mo.300–1,000 MbpsCable
T-Mobile 5G Home$60/mo.up to 245 Mbps5G
Xfinity$9.95–$299.95/mo.50–6,000 MbpsCable

How does Quantum Fiber compare to cable providers?

Cable internet providers have similar pricing and download speeds but have much slower upload speeds than Quantum Fiber. Upload speeds can be important for content creation, gaming or uploading large files. While intro rates for cable internet deals align with Quantum Fiber’s offerings, Quantum Fiber’s Price for Life guarantee is a value that you won’t find with cable companies. Xfinity and Spectrum guarantee prices for 1—2 years before raising rates by $20/mo. or more.
