Danny Dyer has declared he will "never" strut his stuff on Strictly Come Dancing, despite being a regular target for the show's casting team.

The 46-year-old actor, famed for his portrayal of Mick Carter in EastEnders, has graced our screens in numerous TV shows and films. Yet, Danny has made it crystal clear that there's one gig he'll pass on without hesitation, even though he's been invited to join the glitzy dance competition annually.

"I get offered to do Strictly every year, and it's not for me. I've got no desire to be mincing around in sequins," he quipped. Speaking to The Sun, Danny revealed that despite the persistent invites from BBC chiefs to hit the dance floor, he's consistently turned them down, opting instead to seek out his "ultimate role" after waving goodbye to Albert Square following a nine-year stint.

Post-EastEnders life has seen Danny dive into roles in Sky Max's comedy Mr Bigstuff, the sequel to Football Factory, and the forthcoming Disney+ series Rivals, an adaptation of Jilly Cooper's racy 'bonkbuster' novel. Harbouring ambitions for more iconic parts, Danny confessed his aspiration to embody "a co*ckney James Bond" or to take on a classic character like Doctor Who with a unique Dyer twist.

"The obvious role I'd love to play is James Bond, you know, a co*ckney Bond. Or I would like to maybe have a go at Doctor Who, something that's been played by many different actors before and put my own spin on it, my own take on it," he said, reports the Mirror.

The actor described his decision to leave EastEnders as "ambitious" admitting that the show's storylines were "all quite dark and depressing and heavy stuff."

The intensity of playing Mick, with the "dark" narratives, began to take a toll on his mental health, prompting him to depart. "I was always ambitious to try other stuff so I've rolled the dice," he said.

Danny has been in the spotlight recently for condemning the "disgusting" way working-class actors are treated in Britain. In an interview with Radio Times, the father-of-three opened up about facing "classism" at the start of his career and expressed his dismay at the scarcity of working-class individuals in the arts.

He vented: "The classism of the theatre world when I started out spurred me on. I wasn't the most articulate, and I hadn't studied Chekhov, but I knew I had something. All great actors are weird."
