The Cavinder Twins have dismissed suggestions that their NCAA basketball comeback is down to NIL money.

By Joshua Mbu

The Cavinder Twins, Hanna, and Haley will make a college basketball comeback with the Miami Hurricanes and claim NIL money didn't influence their decision. The decision comes after Hanna stepped away from basketball to focus on the twins' business ventures, while Haley continued playing.

Haley had committed to TCU for the 2024-25 season – her final season – but she switched back to Miami after Hanna got cold feet and confirmed her return to the Hurricanes, where they enjoyed some successful seasons together. “I tried to kill that fire,” Hanna said on show on3.

“I honestly couldn’t watch too much [college basketball] because I knew it would just keep coming up. I was like, ‘No, there’s no opportunities for me.’ But I swear, right when you close that door, it opens… the fire is definitely back.”

Hanna added: "I’m in a way better headspace, and I’m not going to let the outside noise affect my decisions. Ultimately, being on the basketball court with Haley makes my life way happier. So, if that’s what I want to do, then I’m going to do it.”

At their peak during college, the Cavinder Twins were worth a sizeable $2 million in NIL valuation, making them among the highest-earning collegiate athletes. However, their seven-figure value didn't play a part in the twins confirming their comeback in the Sunshine State, despite critics suggesting that was the case.

“I think that’s just funny,” Haley said. “A lot of people say that. For a lot of people that don’t know a lot about NIL, it’s very easy to say ‘NIL is why they’re coming back.’”

Hanna added: "That was not the biggest motive. My biggest motivation was being able to go play on the court with my twin.”

The Hurricanes put together an impressive campaign last season finishing with a 19-12 record. However, Miami lost seven players to the transfer portal this offseason, meaning the veteran Cavinders will give them a much-needed boost. The Hurricanes also added two top-50 recruits to their roster.

Whether the Cavinder Twins decide to continue pursuing a partnership with WWE is also unknown. The duo were tipped to be the next Bella Twins, one of WWE's most popular and beloved tag team. The Cavinder Twins' agent says they're in deep conversations with WWE.

Jeff Hoffmanof Everett Sports Marketing told Colin Salao ofTheStreet: "We’re still in deep and heavy conversations with WWE. We were out the training facility a few months ago. We were discussing upcoming trainings.”
